Communities

We promote the social development and general well-being of communities.

We seek to create increasing opportunities so that neighbors from rural communities can develop in a sustainable way.

By addressing the Education – Health – Development axes, we promote education for employability, encourage access to health and nutrition, and foster development related to infrastructure and to meeting basic needs.

We promote community well-being and development: Highlights 2023

Development

Access to Water

We develop initiatives to provide access to running water in the areas near our operations in Argentina.

In 2022, following a diagnosis and consultation with professionals to assist the most remote and isolated families in the communities neighboring our operations in accessing the water network service, we carried out a project that included the installation of 2,000 meters of piping and a booster pump.

In 2023, we completed the project, successfully connecting 13 families to the water network. This resulted in significant improvements in the quality of life for each household and ensured that the Batalla de Salta de Caspinchango School has a secondary water supply source to address frequent issues with its well.

We achieved 100% access to the water network for families in one of our communities.

Diagnosis in Uruguay

Convinced that understanding the communities deeply is essential for taking action and driving transformation, we conducted a mapping of institutions across all neighborhoods in the area of influence, focusing on those attended by the Los Olivos community in Paysandú. Additionally, we carried out a house-to-house diagnosis categorized as follows:

  • Prosperity Area: Development, work, gender equality

  • People Area: Health, education, housing

  • Planet Area: Air, water, animals, land

  • Peace Area: Conflicts, community issues

Using this information, we engaged in dialogue with local authorities and presented the main challenges that residents perceive as necessary and priority areas for improving and developing the neighborhood. These include issues related to traffic, waste management, and employment.

Education

Germinar Program

Created in 2016, this program aims to contribute to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and its potential for social, economic, creative, environmental, and territorial organization and development. It provides a suitable environment for individuals from various rural communities near the Famaillá farms and the micro-region to capitalize on their skills, transform them into productive ventures, and generate a livelihood for their economy.

In 2023, in partnership with Cooperativa Generar, an organization with extensive experience in training and supporting entrepreneurs, we developed training and empowerment cycles for entrepreneurs in the area.

Scholarship Program

Many factors influence school dropout and educational abandonment in rural communities.

For this reason, in collaboration with Fundación Minkai, we provide scholarships for tertiary and high school education based on three key pillars: educational and emotional support, financial support, and family workshops.

  • 16 young people received scholarships

  • 35 students participated in vocational guidance and community project workshops

  • 12 teachers took part in training sessions

Health

In partnership with Fundación Boreal, we have been running the "Promoting Health" program since 2020 to improve the overall health of rural communities in Tucumán. The program includes visits from a mobile health unit offering clinical, speech therapy, ophthalmological, and nutrition evaluations, as well as the free distribution of eyeglasses, dental care kits, and dengue prevention kits in schools and communities within our area of influence.
